FRIDAY 11 June – the day our Garmins led us a merry little dance around Exmoor!

Written by:

It all started well- until we got on our bikes !

looking good at beginning of the day

The first hurdle was the 25+% climb from campsite out of Exton – should have gone another way –

The second hurdle was a minor skirmish with elbow and tarmac by Hisham (all good – nothing serious)

The third hurdle was a minor mechanical – Hisham unable to shift to front chain ring (all good, able to fine tune with appropriate tool at next cross roads

The 4 th hurdle was the road diversion due to resurfacing , diverting us off our route (all good, used google maps to get around that )

The 5 th hurdle was both our Garmins going off piste – mine lost the route entirely for some reason, Hisham’s kept saying do a U turn back to the roadworks (ALL BAD , VERY BAD) . Ended up taking a circular up and down and up and down route through some pretty Exmoor villages but adding an extra 400 m climbing , before deciding to follow any signpost to Taunton . 10 miles from Taunton Hisham’s Garmin kicked in again . I reset mine in Taunton .

ALL GOOD AGAIN ! Had an excellent “through and off” section for about 15 miles on the A361 to Glastonbury before agreeing we should really take it a bit easy , given it’s only day 4 of cycling.

Learned a lot today !

Pleased as punch – recovery nosh part 1
Recovery nosh part 2 (not all of it mind you)
