The lady with the Brompton was on her way well before I surfaced this morning. Hisham chatted to her while walking Tessa early morning. She (the Brompton lady) was heading to Penrith. Apparently she didn’t do breakfast until around 11 am in a coffee shop or somewhere. I guess it saves carrying a lot of food.
A day of “chatty” people.
The man next to our plot wishes us luck while telling us about his 16 Amp circuit in the caravan which played havoc with the 13 Amp circuit supply on site, especially if you wanted a hot shower in the caravan .
Another camper talked to Carol about how the shower block has not changed for years as they had been coming to the farm campsite “for ever “, and the tray has always been wonky , and the hot water tap in the sink never worked , and the loo pedestal was a bit mobile 🤦♂️- but there was a hot shower and the flush worked ok 🤣
And all of that before the day’s ride – a gentle Saturday pootle to get the legs going again

Continuing with some beautiful scenery across the moor and then rolling terrain towards Brampton – with a couple of testing 15% inclines out of Kirkoswald. Much of the route was through the Eden valley between the North Pennines and the Lake District

A picturesque lunch spot led to the most “arty” photo to date

as we stopped for lunch by the Eden bridge just outside Lazonby (although Hisham dropped one of his honey sandwiches on the floor – good for the ducks, bad for his energy intake . I shared my banana with him (Polish the 😇)

Arrived at Blaetarn Farm campsite AHEAD OF THE SUPPORT TEAM !!!!!
Carol had popped into a NT place (Acorn Place) and Jill had gone to visit Carlisle Castle.
It was sunny and warm so we engaged with the locals (other campers) – well at least I did . Hisham tried to sort Glenda (his Garmin) that seemed to have stopped recording some data and then later on had gone into Finnish as main language, and I’m sure you all know how fluent both of us are in Finnish 🤪
Had to do a bit of bike maintenance / investigation on Hisham’s machine as it has been clicking most of the journey and wondered whether it was his bottom bracket playing up . He messaged Tony (Servizibici. com) who, as always provided some suggestions which we duly followed (Tony is a highly recommendable bike service expert in chandlers Ford).

Hopefully nothing significant as noise hasn’t got worse since Lands End
And so we cross the border tomorrow 🤩
