SUNDAY 20 June 2021- LEJOG, the kindness of strangers

Written by:

A beautiful morning at Bleatarn Farm. Carol got chatting briefly to the chap in the trailer tent next door and after telling him about the cycle ride and charity sponsorship, because he asked, he gave me £10 to put in the pot saying “ small charities really don’t get much support do they “- the kindness of strangers (he wished to remain anonymous)

Another day in the saddle and heading across the border

More amazing scenery while we skirted Kielder Forest and headed into the Scottish Borders. Hardly a soul in sight

Lunch stop in the middle of nowhere

And more views that cannot really be captured on an iPhone

Today’s conversation included a short discussion on ROMANS 11 – as you do when you’re cycling into an area where long-standing religious aggression between Catholics and Protestants occurred over centuries . Seemed fitting ?

Happy Father’s Day celebrated with a card at breakfast and a video WhatsApp phone call in the evening made a beautiful Sunday bike ride more special

Had a little nap once we arrived at campsite – a stud farm north of Ancrum where a genteel lady sold 80p tokens for the showers that were in the corner of a barn housed by pigeons and other fowl . It was a bit drizzly for a while this evening – the first poor weather we’ve had all trip so far. Mustn’t grumble .

Edinburgh tomorrow
