Sunday 27 June 2021- LEJOG- we do the NC500 (or some of it at least)

Completely overawed by the generous support and encouragement for this adventure. Over Β£1850 including gift aid raised so far for WPCC . Thank you everyone for your regular wishes and words of encouragement, as well as your generosity.

So I have a resourceful, wise, prudent wife (Proverbs29:14) who, while I’m busy negotiating some of the A9 and a housing estate as Gloria and Glenda go AWOL again, goes to Halfords in Inverness, buys an adapter and gets the cool box working via the cigarette lighter circuit πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.Β

Looking good at the start of the morning

Today was another dry sunny day in Scotland. A flat route across 3 Firths (Moray, Cromarty, Donorch) that brought more and more dramatic coastal scenery around each corner.

Across the Moray Firth and into a housing estate as Gloria and Glenda could not sort out the cycle route 1 from the β€œno cyclists allowed on dual carriage way β€œ, from the stupidity of 2 aged LEJOGGERSπŸ€ͺ

Lunch stop near Alness where 2 photography enthusiasts were searching for dragonflies near the pond (sorry , no photo of them , but managed to get a few of the buttercups instead for your delight

And onward up the NC500. Such smooth tarmac, so few lorries today ( it’s Sunday). We powered on with lots of through’s and off’s as the 2 man breakaway kept their lead off the imaginary peloton about 5 minutes behind them. Decided after 20 km of this game to have another pit stop.

Arrived in Brora after 5 hours of cycling. What a delightful village

Even managed to see a Golden Eagle πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Campsite is in an old wartime telecoms station which on first arrival looks a bit off putting but Iain, whose family bought the land in 1986 was delightful.

Facilities absolutely fine and sea views from everywhere

Carol and I went for beach walk after supper and found some fat seals basking in the late evening sun, having spotted them from our β€œdedicated” plots

Managed to get a Heron in too

So at the end of another day in the saddle ….

…. We look forward to the final leg tomorrow .

(You realise it’s time to get back to human civilisation when you cycle past the Highland Cows and moo at them EVERY TIME πŸ˜‚πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚)
