D7- 2 MOORS 2AY – Devon C2C – Witheridge to Knowstone (almost)- RestDay

Written by:

Here we go again… but it is a rest day so only 3 hours gentle walking to next stop in Bowden Farm BnB just outside Knowstone

This way…come on…

Over gently rolling hills and over quiet tarmac coated lanes (we met 2 walkers, 4 cars and a tractor along a 5 km lane stretch)… so time for some arty shots as no churches or villages today.

Definitely muddier

Even the cows were not interested today…wasn’t wearing red, that’s why.

Love a good log

Not much chatting going on today… apart from consolidating our thoughts about 2026 holidays and walks which we began to think about during last night’s dinner in the Mitre Inn….(you will have to wait to find out but walking Land’s End to John O’ Groats over 100 days was ruled out…. ‘On your own pal!!’ 😅)

….until we came across this…

No wonder the fences are high…

Decided this wouldn’t be one of our 2026 holidays….

…always plenty to see along a country lane ..

Even if it’s not what you want to see.

I may well become one of those people who carries plastic bag around with them every walk to pick up rubbish on the way 💪

…through a beech tree lined avenue

…oh… and I guess you have missed these over the last two days 🤣🤣🤣

So what mushrooms can you find where?

According to https://www.mushroomstalkers.com/blog/how-to-find-mushrooms/which-mushrooms-grow-under-which-trees/. (A USA website)

BUT BEWARE…

From https://www.merryhill-mushrooms.co.uk/blog/mushroom-identifier-uk-a-visual-guide

… anyway…no need to panic… I just like the look of them.

Oops. Must have been windy.

Then out across some moorland

…and even these cows / bulls were not interested

…and after a leisurely 3 hr stroll, we arrived at the farmhouse.…just as the rain began in earnest.

“Run away run away, humans are coming!”

The next two days will be more strenuous as we cross Exmoor…
