Training walk 3

It rained a bit overnight 💥

It rained when Kathryn and I did a 6+km catch up run this morning – 💥💥Fabulous . First rain in weeks.

It rained when we started our walk – just a drizzle but gloriously refreshing

Through the damp woodland for the first part, past the American war memorial in Ampfield Chapel wood

From ampfieldparish.gov.uk

Then the sun came out . I love the dappling of sunlight and trees damp with water droplets combo.

Once Ampfield Wood was traversed (bit of a posh word, I know) we went past ‘Big House Country’

…into Crampmoor where we re-encountered (another big word for me, hyphenated no less) the Southern Water digs.

The Romsey -Chandlers Ford rail line appeared and no good walk is complete without an unmanned rail crossing !

No dilly dallying now !

Horseflies aren’t great for horses either – hence the head coverings

No you can’t have my sandwich

Homeward bound across Baddesley Common and Emer bog

…Before a stop over at Andy’s tea room (not open to the public I hasten to add)

After a chat and re hydrate with tea… and a crunchy choc chip nutty biscuit … or two 🤭… along the corn fields (apparently for the grouse to hide in, not for consumption)

The final stretch through Flexford Wood catching glimpses of some sort of treasure trail ?

Another solid few miles in the legs 🦵🦵today even if on the relative flat

Must be doing us good ?
